Organizational Nightmare? DriftnFun Saved the Day.

Tomodori isn't just another drift event to us—it's one of the highlights of the year.

Sure, it brings the drift community together, but more importantly, it brings together our friends. Tomodori has always been about family, good vibes, and celebrating drift culture the way it should be. It's one of those weekends we start looking forward to the moment the previous one ends.

Getting this year's event off the ground, however, was anything but easy.

Right at the start of the season, finding a suitable location turned into a real challenge—especially since it had to be a place where drifting was actually allowed. After countless rejections, our "Drift Mom" Nadia managed to convince Circuit Jura Sud to host the event —literally at the last minute.

That wasn't exactly an easy sell.

Drifting has always been a sensitive topic there. Tire smoke, screaming engines, bouncing rev limiters... you get the picture. The fire department has even shown up before because locals thought something was burning. Well... where there's tire smoke, there's usually a good time.

We've driven at Jura Sud several times over the years, and every visit reminds us why we love this place. The layout is super technical, making it absolutely perfect for close tandem battles. So despite all the obstacles leading up to the event, we couldn't have been happier that Tomodori was happening after all.

Friday after work, we loaded up the trailers and hit the road.

The drive itself is already part of the adventure. The Jura mountains are full of winding roads, steep hills, and beautiful scenery—not exactly a boring highway cruise.

We rolled into the paddock just before midnight, unloaded the cars, built our pit setup, cracked open a well-earned beer, and called it a night.Sat

Saturday - Day One

Coffee first. Lots of coffee.

After the usual drivers' briefing, it was finally time to get on track. We've been coming here for years, so both the circuit and the event rules felt like second nature. This weekend's lineup included Domenik, Janick, Michael, and Renato, while Sagi would join us on Sunday. The weather couldn't have been any better, and the atmosphere was exactly what Tomodori is all about. After a few warm-up laps, everyone jumped straight into tandem runs. That's what makes these events so special. No judges. No qualifying. No championship points. Just endless seat time, pushing your limits, trying new lines, and having fun with your friends.

Domenik and Janick shared driving duties in the 350Z, while the E36 unfortunately stayed home. Time simply wasn't on our side to get it ready. After sorting out a few issues following Hockenheim, Michi's Silvia was finally back where it belonged. Lap after lap, he carried more speed, more angle, and cleaner lines. Hearing that CA18 bouncing off the limiter while chasing door-to-door never gets old.

Renato was making his return after a longer off-season break. His LS-powered 180SX only needed a fresh oil change before the weekend. After giving the Nissan a proper spring cleanup, he was right back in the mix, throwing down tandem runs like he hadn't missed a beat.

As the sun went down, the grill fired up. The evening BBQ is just as much a part of Tomodori as the drifting itself. Hanging out together, telling stories, talking cars, and laughing until way too late—that's drift culture. It's never just about driving.

And yes... things may have gone on until the early hours of the morning.

Some traditions are simply non-negotiable.

Sunday – Day Two

Saturday's summer heat absolutely destroyed our fresh tire supply. After a full day of nonstop driving, we had to make every remaining set count. The best cure for a slight hangover? More tandem drifting.

Sagi arrived on Saturday evening with his G35—better known in our team as the "G-Wagon." His missile car is far more affordable to run than his 500+ horsepower S14, yet it's incredibly reliable. Most importantly, it's an absolute blast to throw sideways.

As temperatures climbed above 30°C (86°F) once again, most of us packed up around lunchtime. Sagi stayed until the very last session and proudly kept the DriftBastards flag flying.

Final Thoughts

Tomodori once again proved why it's one of our favorite events of the entire season.

It's never just about drifting. It's about friends. It's about family. It's about spending an unforgettable weekend with people who share the same passion.
